Timothy Morton is a professor in English at Rice University in the US. He is connected with the object oriented philosophy movement and ecological studies. The term ‘Hyper Object’ relates to objects that are so massive they are beyond human comprehension.

An example is climate change, which is everywhere but not specifically visible itself only in its symptoms such as extreme weather conditions. Another example is radiation in the way that it can travel through other objects and gets transported around. It can get lodged in our bodies, but we can’t see it.

Morton combines philosophy, language and ecology in a style that evokes and inspires an interesting and unusual perspective on some of the major issues that face the world today that are often ignored or disavowed because it is so difficult to talk about them or study them in a manageable way.
